Tuesday, 15 July 2025 - 8:31 pm

The Cabinet approved the implementation of the National Cyber Protection Strategy of Sri Lanka – 2025–2029, presented by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as Minister of Digital Economy.

The strategy, developed by the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (Sri Lanka CERT) with support from the World Bank, builds on the country’s first Cyber Protection Strategy introduced in 2018 and implemented between 2019 and 2023.

Focusing exclusively on civilian sectors, the new strategy outlines key thematic areas, including upgrading the legal and regulatory framework, enhancing cyber security awareness, improving readiness, strengthening response capabilities and fostering greater cooperation.
