Rice worth $30 million more than during Ranil’s tenure, imported in the last 5 months,

According to a report issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, rice imports amounted to $58.1 million between January and May 2025.

This represents a significant increase of $29.5 million compared to the $28.6 million spent on rice imports during the same period in 2024.

That is, the Central Bank report further states that rice imports in the first five months of this year have more than doubled compared to the first five months of last year.
