Veteran Civil Servant Bradman Weerakoon Passes Away at 94

Bradman Weerakoon, a legendary figure in Sri Lanka’s public administration, has passed away at the age of 94.Mr. Weerakoon began his education at Holy Cross College, Kalutara, and later studied at S. Thomas’ College, Gurutalawa. He went on to ea an Honours degree in Economics and Sociology from the University of Peradeniya, before receiving a Fulbright Scholarship to complete his Master’s in Sociology at the University of Michigan, USA.

Joining the Ceylon Civil Service in 1954, Mr. Weerakoon held numerous key administrative positions across the island. He notably served as Secretary to Prime Minister Sir John Kotelawala and went on to serve under seven Prime Ministers and three Presidents, remaining an influential figure in gove ment until 2002.His decades-long contribution to the Sri Lankan state has left a
