Committee Report on Deshabandu to be submitted to Speaker

Once the investigation is complete, the committee’s final report will be submitted to the Speaker of Parliament by the committee’s Chairman. The Speaker is then expected to take appropriate action following a review of the report.

The committee has notified both the respondent and the complainant parties to submit their written submissions by Tuesday, July 8, no later than 3:30 p.m.

Testimonies from both parties regarding the allegations were concluded recently.

The inquiry is chaired by Supreme Court Justice Preethi Padman Surasena, and includes retired Judge Neil Iddawala, Chairman of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, and E.W.M. Lalith Ekanayake, Chairman of the National Police Commission.
