President holds talks on U.S. tariff proposal

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake convened a high-level meeting this mo ing (10) at the Presidential Secretariat to review Sri Lanka’s stance on the proposed U.S. import tariffs on local exports.

The discussion brought together senior officials engaged in ongoing trade negotiations with the United States. Attention was focused on the revised tariff rate, which was initially proposed at 44% for Sri Lankan exports but has since been lowered to 30%.
