Unidentified female body found in sea near Pigeon Island bridge

An unidentified female body was discovered in the sea beneath the bridge leading to Pigeon Island in the Matara Police Division, the Police Media Division said.

The body was found last night (11) following information received by the Matara Police. Initial observations suggest that the deceased woman is between 40 and 45 years of age.

Police described the woman as approximately 5 feet tall and said she was wearing a black and yellow dress along with a black short skirt. Her identity has not yet been confirmed.

Further investigations are being carried out by the Matara Police to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
