Imported milk powder prices increased

Thursday, 10 July 2025 - 7:12 pm

Milk powder importers have announced a price increase for imported milk powder, with the 400g packet rising by Rs. 100, the Sri Lanka Milk Powder Importers Association confirmed.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, association representatives said the decision was made in response to continuous price hikes in the inte ational milk powder market over the past six months. Despite these increases, local prices were held steady until now to ensure uninterrupted supply in the country.

Accordingly, the price of a 400g packet has been revised to Rs. 1,200, while a one-kilogram packet has gone up by Rs. 250.

The association noted that although inte ational market trends warranted a steeper increase, they limited the adjustment to around 9% to ease the burden on consumers.

They also assured that any future reduction in global milk powder prices would be promptly passed on to local consumers.
