Sri Lanka has emerged as one of the most sought-after travel destinations for the 2025 summer season, according to new data released by Emirates.

The airline revealed its latest travel trends based on global flight searches and bookings for July and August, placing Sri Lanka third on its list of top destinations, with a 32% surge in interest compared to previous periods.

Known for its lush tea plantations, ancient heritage sites, golden beaches, and adventure-friendly landscapes, Sri Lanka continues to attract both families and solo travelers looking for value and variety in their holidays.

Vietnam claimed the top spot with a remarkable 61% increase in flight searches, followed by Mauritius with 41%. Japan and France completed the top five, with steady demand from global travelers.

Emirates noted that Sri Lanka is also gaining popularity among travelers from the UAE and the UK, with British holidaymakers showing a growing preference for long-haul destinations like Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Sri Lanka this summer.

The report highlighted a broader surge in inte ational travel this year, with shifting preferences toward destinations offering a mix of culture, nature, and authentic experiences — a niche Sri Lanka continues to hold strong.

With global tourism on the rise, Sri Lanka’s renewed presence on the world travel map signals promising prospects for the island’s tourism sector in the coming months.
