The Bribery Commission informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali Jayatunga that the daughter of Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital’s specialist Dr. Maheshi Wijeratne, who is on remand, has made death threats to the Bribery Commission’s investigating officers.

Bribery Commission Assistant Legal Director Sulochana Hetti Arachchi stated in court that the suspect’s daughter made such death threats.

Hetti Arachchi further stated that the death threats were made when the Magistrate appeared before the court to present a motion through President’s Counsel Maithri Gunaratne to grant bail to her mother.

Considering the facts, the Chief Magistrate instructed the Bribery Commission officials to file a complaint with the Keselwatte Police regarding the threats.
