Tuesday, 08 July 2025 - 7:25 pm

A decision is expected tomorrow on whether to change the treatment being given to the ailing elephant Bathiya, who has been ill for several days in the Polpithigama area.

Professor Ashoka Dangolla from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Peradeniya said the treatments administered so far have not shown any improvement in the elephant’s condition.

However, he said that veterinarians are closely monitoring Bathiya’s health and will decide on the next steps based on the animal's response.
